My chosen site is The Regent Cinema, which is located in Church Street, Blackpool. It was first opened as the Regent Picture House in the 1920’s. Then around the 1960’s, it became a full time Bingo place which then closed in 1993. The theatre was later used as a Pool and Snooker Hall (Rileys) from 2007, but closed down in 2010.
As of September 2016, the stalls area of the Cinema is in use as an antiques centre, set up by Rick Taylor in 2015, and films are being shown in the Cinema’s former Circle, which was rebranded as “The People’s Cinema”, when it opened in 2016.
Here are the pictures I took from my Site Analysis.
Taken from the Balcony Area. It’s a picture house during night, and Antique shop by day.
House in a former cinema building, there are three floors of vintage wares. All stores are independently owned by a variety of individuals so there is a real eclectic mix of things to buy.
